Wolf3d understood the potential virtual 3D avatars could have on the consumer market and set out to develop a 3D scanner that would make creating avatars cheaper and easier for consumers. The Luna 3D scanner was launched at the beginning of 2016 with more than 10k people taking up the opportunity to be scanned last year.
Moving on, the company has refined their scanning process by reducing the average cost of creating an avatar down from $400 to almost $0 by introducing avatar creating on smartphone allowing the company to apply economies of scale and reach more consumers. Their LA office was opened in 2016.
